Kathmandu, November 30
The Mohan Baidhya-led CPN-Maoist Revolutionary has expressed solidarity with the movement against the Prachanda government-sponsored Constitution Amendment Bill. In a press release on Wednesday, Baidhya supported protests and general strike centred around issues like redrawing of provincial boundaries. The party described the public’s demands vis-a-vis delineation of provinces as just. Tyrannical methods won’t resolve issues like provincial demarcation, the press release states, adding: For resolution of disputes over issues like demarcation, progressive and forward-looking political forces should work together. Our party strongly believes that consent of people of concerned districts and provinces is a must when it comes to redrawing provincial boundaries. The Maoist party has been maintaining that the present Constitution is against the will of the people aspiring for liberation and epoch-making changes. It has been calling for introduction of what it calls the Constitution of the Federal People’s Republic.
